Irises and Bunnies- Original painting by Deepthi A.
In Chinese culture, the iris (yuān wěi) symbolizes elegance, hope, and the quiet strength found in nature. Its slender, sword-like leaves represent resilience, while its blossoms herald renewal and the arrival of spring—a season of growth and harmony.
Rabbits ( tù), deeply rooted in Chinese symbolism, are gentle creatures associated with peace, longevity, and good fortune. As the companion of the moon goddess Chang’e in mythology, the rabbit also evokes a sense of mysticism and serenity. In traditional belief, it is a creature of grace, kindness, and quiet wisdom.
Together beneath the iris plant, the rabbits in this painting embody a tranquil balance between strength and softness, beauty and stillness—a poetic reflection of nature’s quiet moments.
