Original Painting- Irises and Peonies

In Chinese culture, the iris flower ( yuānwěihuā) is valued for its elegant and graceful appearance despite having less traditional cultural significance compared to other flowers. The iris is sometimes associated with the meaning of "message" or "messenger," stemming from its connection with the Greek goddess Iris, who served as a messenger of the gods. In Chinese contexts, irises can symbolize admiration, courage, and wisdom, appreciated for their serene and delicate beauty in gardens and floral arrangements.

Peonies are known as the "king of flowers" ( huā zhōng zhī wáng) and symbolize prosperity, wealth, and honor. They are often depicted in art and embroidery to convey abundance and good fortune. They hold a deep-rooted significance in Chinese culture, representing prosperity, beauty, femininity, and cultural refinement.
